The position reports to the Superintendent, District Operations. The jobholder is primarily responsible for ensuring proper and efficient operation of the medium voltage distribution system to ensure reliable and continuous supply of electric power to customers. A major challenge to the jobholder is instilling a sense of heightened awareness of safety consciousness among operations personnel as a vast majority of the testing and inspection is done on live equipment carrying medium voltage with varying strength magnetic fields.

University degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

Skills:
Detailed and expert process knowledge power transmission and distribution operations.
Sound understanding of all relevant plant and equipment. Understanding of plant capability.
Sound understanding of preventative/predictive maintenance techniques and practices

Experience:
4 - 6 years’ relevant operational or maintenance experience in a heavy industrial environment.
1 - 2 years experience of power transmission and distribution operations.
Previous power generation experience is an advantage. Previous supervisory/man-management experience.
