Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering essential. Corporate Membership of the Association of Cost Engineers will be an added advantage. Adequate exposure to all aspects related to costing of construction activity inclusive of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines with work experience in upgrade of running refineries/ petrochemical plants as well as major projects.
A minimum of 10 years experience including 5 years in petroleum / petrochemical industry. Experience in practical engineering field work, cost estimating and planning sufficient to enable cost estimates from ‘first principles’ is essential.
Should have a comprehensive knowledge of construction, modification and repair methods, materials and job sequence encountered in all aspects of Refining, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil and Structural engineering works. To establish good Engineering practices and guidelines in the preparation of cost estimates and in preparation of a detailed cost estimation manual.
Be aware of all safety procedures and be fully conversant with the Health and Safety Standards in the Petroleum/ Petrochemical Industry.
Capable of coordinating with other BAPCO personnel and departments in estimation and monitoring of engineered projects.
Capable of interpreting Project Specifications and Contracts. Provide inputs for the preparation of the same. Experience in preparing Project Plans and Schedules using MS Projects/ Primavera Software an advantage.
Experience in operating PC on Windows XP platform with knowledge in usage of MS Office Software Packages. Knowledge of latest estimating software is a strong advantage.
Sound communication skills in English, both written and oral. Knowledge of Arabic, an advantage.
To check estimates for budget proposals. To prepare a Cost Estimation Manual. To prepare detailed cost estimates for specific projects as assigned. To prepare detailed check estimates for all ‘Lump Sum’ Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Instrumentation construction projects.
Co-ordinate inter/intra Department within BAPCO and with Contractors.
Have the ability to write clear and concise reports, proposals and memoranda. Good interpersonal skills.
