Main Duties:
• Ensure the hatchery division operates within the budgeted parameters and achieves the performance objectives and costs.
• Ensure that the assets of the company are safe guarded & report any significant incidents.
• Liaise with parent stock suppliers to achieve budgeted placement program & coordinate with other department managers to ensure timely supply of inputs. Control petty cash expenses and explore all possible means of cost saving.
• Maintain and improving technical standards and supervision of hatchery farms in line with Breeds’ recommendations and local modifications as agreed with the Director in respect of best practices on flock management and husbandry, health status including vaccination, medication, bio-security and maintenance of hatchery farms in a good state of repair.
• Ensure that eggs are stored in good condition & liaise with relevant departments to transport eggs to the hatchery in best condition for setting consistent with achieving above budget chicks per hen housed figures.
• Control staff levels within budgeted levels & ensure that adequate notice is given to HR for staff requirements.
• Regular appraising, identifying training needs of the work force & presenting suitable recommendations for staff development.
• Report problems and opportunities for improvement to the Director and suggesting solutions for implementation.
• Monitor the progress of the division performance and taking corrective action to achieve budgets in consultation with the Director.
• Keep up-to-date with developments & advances in hatchery production.
• Perform any other reasonably assigned duties within scope of expertise.

2) Administrative Duties:
• Assist in preparation of budgets of hatchery farms with contributions on output parameters, expenses per farm and capital proposals with justifications as required for improving efficiency and reducing unit costs.
• Check all weekly reports and physical farm records of each house and flock to ensure that these are being maintained in good order, accurate and assisting to monitor production in line with the required objectives.
• Assist in selecting, developing & evaluating staff at all levels to maximize their productivity and competence with on the job training where required.
• Assist, co-operate, liaise closely with the Director and keeping him abreast, on at least twice weekly basis, of the progress and performance of each farm and flock.
