Role Purpose:
  • The Warehouse Keeper is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing and issuing goods and materials for use in retail operations and supporting activities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Receives goods and materials into the warehouse, checks the delivery note and physically offloads materials from delivery vehicles into the warehouse receipt area.
  • Physically inspects goods and materials received in order to ensure that the right quantity has been delivered and there are no defects or damage to the goods and reports any discrepancy/damage or short receipt to the Warehouse Manager/Supervisor.
  • Transfers inspected goods and materials into the warehouse, using appropriate lifting equipment, in order to ensure that goods are safely and securely stored in their designated storage position.
  • Locates and issues stored items on receipt of requisition in order to ensure that the correct items are promptly supplied to meet operational needs.
  • Ensures that all goods and materials are stored and issued according to prescribed stock management standards.
  • Carries out regular stock takes under the direction of the Warehouse Manager/Supervisor, in order to ensure that inventory records match physical goods and materials stored in the warehouse and storage yards.
  • Carries out routine checking, inspection, cleaning and minor maintenance of lifting and stacking equipment in order to ensure unplanned operational interruptions are minimised and a safe working environment is maintained at all times.
  • Ensures all operating, safety, environment and quality procedures are followed in order to ensure the highest standards of warehousing operations are achieved.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Knowledge::
  • High School graduate.
  • 1-2 years practical work experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of warehousing operating and safety procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of physical handling and lifting techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to drive and use lifting and stacking equipment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
