The British Council Libya is recruiting a Project Manager to lead on a new project providing teacher training and English language teaching to secondary school teachers in Libya. This post will be based in the British Council office in Tripoli but will require frequent visits to English language centres in universities around Libya. You will also be required to visit secondary schools to observe teaching practice.
The new ‘Libya English Teaching in Secondary Schools’ project (LETSS) will commence in September 2010 and will work in close cooperation with our well established Libyan English Teaching in Universities Project (LETUP). You will lead a team of 11 delivering Teacher Training and General English courses to secondary school English teachers in order for them to reach CEF A2/A1 (Pre-Intermediate/ intermediate) level and to prepare for the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT).
This is a very varied and challenging position working in a bi-cultural environment. The overall goal of the LETSS Project Manager is to lead the professional development project to the satisfaction of the partners and to ensure the long-term sustainability of the teacher training programme. You will be responsible for ensuring that the British Council Teacher Trainers implement and deliver the teacher training and English language training programmes, working in coordination with the secondary school teachers, Language Centre Manager and administrators, the British Council Project Manager and Teacher Trainers from other centres.
